Q-con was founded in the year 2000 by dipl. geophys. Ralph Weidler with the objective to advance and apply the know-how acquired in leading geothermal and deep drilling research projects. Initially, Q-con focussed on geothermal reservoir engineering, but soon attracted growing attention also in the oil- and gas-industry.

With increasing demands on hardware and software solutions, Q-con developed its own seismic monitoring systems setting new standards in (automated) real-time monitoring. To apply novel techniques in reservoir modelling, Q-con also developed a powerful in-house software package for the numerical simulation of (coupled) physical processes.
